After hearing the talks of Czech visitors to PyCon Namibia, I thought I can return the favour and give a short speech about Namibia and PyCon there.

Not much is known about the African, specifically Namibian way of doing things. So I offer a presentation that will help future visitors to find their way to my country through learning of Python.

  1. The country of Namibia, where the hell is it and the surprising connection to the Czech Republic.
  2. Culture shock, be prepared!
  3. PyCon Namibia: it's more different than you think
  4. Problems of spreading Python and state of education in general
  5. What can you do to help and feel good about it

What do you need to know to enjoy this talk

Python level

You can write basic scripts.

Domitil Katemo

I am a person who is positive about every aspect of life. I was born and raised in Namibia and I moved to Prague in March 2023. I am a graduate of The International University of Management. I took part in Pycon Namibia conference 2019 and I've been in close contact with the lead figures of Namibian Pycon community since. I co-founded a family school in the poorest area of Ohangwena region of Namibia. My tasks involve administration, digital marketing and fundraising. The school aims to teach the basics of computer science and programming once it is developed enough.
